“Healing through History” embodies
the notion that we must “think globally and act locally.”
This
program will explore local and global social movements and cases
of truth and reconciliation and
connect them to New York community
issues. This unique approach takes participants on a journey
through time
during six facilitated discussions
and workshops to explore our historical foundations and how they
relate to current
social problems. The mission of
this initiative is to bring together participants of all
backgrounds to bridge the gap
between generations, across cultural
lines, and to heal the hurts of bias and prejudice.
NCCJ will educate
participants about global human relations and the importance of
contributing to
global affairs. Also, participants
will find common experiences across racial, cultural, and
national lines to increase
their awareness about international
cooperation.
This program will be launched in
the fall of 2007-- stay tuned!
