Hate in the Hallways: Youth Leadership
Weekend Conferences
Work in the New York City Public Schools
Working cooperatively with the NYC public schools, NCCJ
provides leadership and conflict resolution skills to youth,
empowering them to combat violence and create more inclusive
communities.
Youth Leadership Weekend Conferences
The
Greater New York Region conducts Youth Leadership Weekend
Conferences on a contract basis. The conferences are two
to three days and are usually
held at a YMCA Conference Center (Greenkill
Conference Center, Huguenot NY).
The purpose of
the conferences is to help youth become effective leaders in a
multicultural environment. We achieve this by taking the students
through a series of activities focused on communication, team building
and raising their awareness of how prejudice and stereotypes effect
their perceptions and behavior. We emphasize that given the incredible
multi cultural diversity of the New York City region (and that the
nation is looking more and more like New York than less) these
leadership skills are necessary to the success of the city and the
nation. Multicultural
Youth Leadership Workshops
The Greater New York Region
conducts Youth Leadership Diversity Workshops on a contract basis.
The workshops are held at the school or clients site and are tailored
to meet the needs of the youth.
