Interns will work directly with programming and special events staff to perform the following tasks, but not limited to:   

 PROGRAMMING AND RESEARCH:

·        Conduct extensive research online regarding various social justice public policy issues (i.e., local hate crimes, etc.). 

·        Assist in the initial research and planning for the creation of youth empowerment programs, specifically those dealing with global perspectives and international case studies.   

·        Research and identify new partner groups, organizations, and universities that share NCCJ’s mission (i.e., corporations, schools, other nonprofit organizations, etc.)  

FUNDRAISING EVENTS: 

·        Assist staff to coordinate all aspects of fundraising dinners and other events (i.e., tracking attendees, coordinating mailings, etc.) 

MEMBERSHIP/MARKETING: 

·       Assist staff with implementation of JOIN membership campaign (researching sources for potential members, creating promotional brochures, data entry, follow-up calls, etc.)

 GENERAL: 

·        Perform administrative duties as necessary.

·        Perform other duties as assigned.

 QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: 

·        Ability to commit 10-12 hours weekly in the office (scheduling is flexible).

·        Outcome driven, with attention to detail and accuracy

·        Strong planning, organizational and project management skills

·        Visionary, creative and works with ideas

·        Excellent interpersonal skills

·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·        Ability to set priorities, multi-task oriented, flexible and meet deadlines

·        Comfortable with research and evaluation

·        Candidates should also have a strong interest in social justice issues and the mission of NCCJ.

·        Solid computer skills (MS Office—Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Web Design and Access).

·        Intern should be able to work independently and/or as part of a team
