What The Students Say . . .

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES

“The most important thing I have learned at this conference was to interact and care for people I never respected.”

-- NCCJ Hate In The Hallway Participant

LIFE LESSONS

It’s an amazing program that teaches you how to become a stronger person in your everyday life.  It also gives you a stronger set of values.” NCCJ Emerging Leader, Brooklyn

THE HIDDEN TRUTH

“The program is an educational experience for everyone no matter how tolerant or intolerant.  It is a very good way to get people of different backgrounds together to discuss main social issues that are generally ignored.” – NCCJ Emerging Leader, Manhattan

Vision of Hope

“I have learned how such things as racial and religious hate are universal in this world.  It’s an unfortunate circumstance of course, but there is also hope that understanding and acceptance are universal, too.”  --NCCJ Program Advisor

Transformation

“I have learned that anger and hate can not be destroyed in a short period of time. It takes education, understanding, and discussion to put an end to prejudice and ignorance.”

New York City Educator

Defining Leadership

“The important thing I’ve learned is that being a leader is the right thing but being a leader doesn’t mean being number one. It means helping others to become number one.” – NCCJ Youth Program Sponsor

In November 2006, NCCJ worked with teen leaders at Girls Quest as part of their "Quest for Understanding."  Here's what some of the participants said about their experiences:

"I really enjoyed the exercises we did because it helped me to understand a lot of issues and concerns that we face as teenagers."

"The exercise taught me how our values reflect who we are as people."
